The fourth Amendment states, "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."
I believe this is one of the most important amendments made, in the Bill of Rights. It also made me realize just how important it was while in English class reading "The Crucible." This story is written in old English and is suppose to be set in Salem in 1692. At some point in the story they are searching for witchcraft. The man comes to the door and says "I have a warrant to search this home." That struck me as funny because if the Constitution wasn't drawn up until 1787, and the first 10 amendments in 1789, they didn't need a "warrant." Someone failed to search their history better! From what I know a lot of the Salem Witch trials were hearsay, anyone could be accused of being a witch and they could violate whatever they want. Any who, back to the task at hand. You should be extremely grateful that this Amendment was passed. It stops law officials from searching your' person, house, car ect without just cause. If this amendment wasn't in effect could you imagine what life would be like? It would be tons of profiling going on! In my opinion of the Ten laws passed in the Bill Of Rights this one is EXTREMELY important. :)
